Jaime Hayon's contemporary take on traditional Asian lanterns adds a modern twist, resulting in a design that expresses a fusion of Eastern and Western influences. Lanterns have long been used in Asia, and come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors depending on the region and culture. They have developed as lighting fixtures for everyone, from the nobility to the masses, regardless of wealth. The shades, which come in a variety of sizes and shapes, are carefully crafted by artisans, each piece of paper carefully attached to a frame. This series consists of three different lantern types and a table lamp made of ivory white paper with black stained oak accents.
