The Mirror Ball by British interior designer Tom Dixon was inspired by the helmets worn by astronauts in extravehicular space suits. Its name comes from the use of a metallic coating on polycarbonate, creating a mirror-like surface. Designed to blend into its surroundings by reflecting the environment, this lighting piece serves as a subtle object when turned off, with a minimal spherical form and mirrored finish achieved through vacuum metallization, harmonizing effortlessly with any interior. When illuminated, it reflects light while diffusing it downward, evoking the presence of a disco ball at the center of a dance floor and creating an iconic focal point.
