Tom Burr - Torrington Project
A collection of works by American conceptual artist Tom Barr. In Trington, a city located in the northwestern part of Connecticut in the United States, a factory that was used in the 19th century was built and is now reused for different purposes. This project is a book that records the three years that the author conducted a residence program at this vast former factory from 2021 to 2024.
The project in this place, which is neither a conventional exhibition nor an atelier, gathers more than 90 works that have been worked on throughout his career as a "Living Archive", and the sculptor and performance artist Gordon Hall, artist and dancer Maria Hasabi, and artist Nick Mouse were invited to perform.
This book functions not as a static record, but as an act to actively expand this project itself. Works produced in the past, new interventions, and evolving ideas will circulate beyond the original context and become a place where they continue to unravel.
