EILEEN GRAY, DESIGNER AND ARCHITECT
A collection of works by Irish product designer and architect Eileen Gray. A book that introduces the life and works that have been hidden in the shadow of history for a long time despite having a rare talent. It is bound with a beautiful binding by Dutch graphic designer Irma Boom.
The author, who has shown various talents as designers and architects, has interacted with various celebrities in the literary world and the art world throughout his life. This book follows the career of designers, architects, painters, and photographers in chronological order. In addition to the results of new research, it contains a lot of photos of the time and newly taken illustrations, and contains essays that analyze more than 50 designs and architectural works in detail.
The author, who was born in Ireland, went to Paris to establish a textile studio after studying in London. The Japanese lacquer craft I learned during this period became the key to my work as a designer. He also owns "Jean Désert", a gallery and store, and is also active as a director. Nevertheless, the author, who is a "woman" who has mainly been self-taught, was forced to struggle to be recognized in a male-dominated industry.
He is currently an author known for his furniture, lighting, and carpets, but he has worked on many architectural and interior projects that are both personally and socially significant. The modern house "Villa E-1027", a representative work of the author designed with Jean Badovici, and the economical and dismantling "Camping Tent is one of those things.
