This is a collection of works by the American artist Donald Judd, with the first edition published by PRESTEL in 2020, and a second edition expanded by the Judd Foundation. It provides detailed explanations of the interiors, exteriors, and surrounding lands of the existing living and working spaces managed by the foundation, ranging from Judd’s home and studio at 101 Spring Street in New York, which he purchased in 1968, to the vast ranch Ayala de Chinati in the mountains of West Texas.

The book illustrates the concept of permanently exhibiting artworks, furniture, and decorative objects, showing how Judd successfully balanced the historical characteristics of the buildings with his own architectural innovations. The buildings he acquired later in life in Marfa, Texas, were constructed on 340 acres within the former Marfa Army Base, while the aforementioned 33,000-acre ranch, Ayala de Chinati, stretches into the Chinati Mountains to the south of the town. Each of these spaces was meticulously designed with attention to both function and aesthetics, and the author’s consistent artistic vision is reflected in the furniture he designed, the practical buildings, and the overall spatial composition.
