Jaime Hayon's contemporary take on the traditional Asian lantern adds a modern twist through his unique perspective, resulting in a design that embodies the fusion of Eastern and Western design. Lanterns have long been used in Asia, and come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors depending on the region and culture. They have developed as lighting fixtures for everyone, from the nobility to the masses, regardless of wealth. For this collection, Hayon has simplified some of the cultural essence by unifying the shades in white. The shades, which come in a variety of sizes and shapes, are crafted by artisans, each piece carefully attached to a frame. The series consists of three different lantern types and a table lamp made of ivory white paper with black stained oak accents.
