About Renovation (Part 2)

It's been 2 years since I decided to start a renovation in my own company as a result of a partial renovation of my home. Finally, we decided to do a full-scale renovation of the first house from our own office to a showroom.

It's been more than a year since the concept, and the construction finally started last month, but will it be as expected when the demolition actually starts? In the end, most of the things except for the body of the building were removed, and it was decided to make it a skeleton renovation in a hurry. People around you sometimes say that it's a waste to do that even though you're a tenant, but you can see as many cheap and suitable manufacturing on the premise of scrap & build as you want elsewhere. Now that the keyword "sustainability" is spreading in various situations, I think it has become an era where options other than scrap & build are required in architecture.

The previous buildings and interiors have been the most valuable at the time of new construction, and the rest will only decline with age. I believe that wonderful buildings with a history are valuable as assets even after years, but unfortunately, most of them are being demolished in Japan.

Even if the tenant has a wonderful interior design, if there are people who find the charm of the space, they may find the next tenant as it is, and I think there will be people who want to rent it because of the interior. I believe that a great design in any era is valuable just to exist.

I love mid-century furniture, including vintage furniture.

This is because it was an era when the passion of the makers who thought of "high-quality designs and furniture would be in the hands of many people" was formed, and many wonderful original design furniture that would go down in history was produced.

Really good things are not only related to design and materials, but also to all processes related to manufacturing, including the maker.

No matter how good the material is, if the design is not good, it cannot be used for a long time, and even if the material and design are good, if the maker is slacking off, this will not work again.

I've seen a number of renovations and renovations so far, and I said, "It's a waste to leave it in shambles just because it's an invisible part to change." I always thought so.

I couldn't get used to the idea that I wouldn't spend money or don't care if I said, "It's a place where I can't see it anyway," and if I'm going to do it, I want to make a home where I can live more comfortably for a long time while fixing the parts I care about as much as possible. I did.

If you don't take care of the house, it will deteriorate over time, and in the end, it's not just a consumable, but the house that you can live in while taking care of it carefully will enjoy the changes over time and increase your attachment. Cheap fakes made on the premise of disposable things are a little scratch, but real materials have the geneosity that can be perceived as family history even with such scratches.

The house is the same as the people, and it doesn't have to be perfect from the beginning.

Over the years, people and families enjoy change and grow together. In other words, remodeling and renovation may be like changing clothes according to the life stage of life.

Depending on the lifestyle and family structure at that time, change the furniture or change the floor plan. In this way, by growing up little by little, and getting closer to our ideal self and home, we will be able to live our lives more happily and richly as we get older.

The renovation business started by our company is still ahead, but "〇〇 month 〇〇 day renewal opening!" It makes you realize that it is more important to make it carefully while thinking about each one rather than deciding and moving forward.

I think manufacturing is the result of accumulating such thoughts.

In that sense, I'm looking forward to what kind of shape the things will be made in this renovation.
